Q. How long do I have to wait to have a memorial fitted after a burial or cremation?
A. Most Burial Authorities require 6-9 months to allow the gound to settle before a Memorial can be fitted. A Cremation Memorial can usually be fitted once the ashes have been interred.
Q. What are Local Burial Authority fees and how much are they?
A. Local Councils, i.e. Town or Parish Councils and Churchyards charge a fee for the right to erect a Memorial. The fee varies from Council to Council and is also dependent on the type of memorial. It covers the administration costs to grant approval for the Memorial as well as costs towards the upkeep of the Cemetery/Churchyard.
Q. Do I have to gain the approval?
A. No, we will do this on your behalf and the appropriate fee would be included within your order total.
Q. Can anyone ask for a Memorial to be laid?
A. No, a grave or cremation plot has a 'Grave Owner', this is the person who holds the deeds for the plot (in most cases this is the person who arranged the burial with the Local Authorities). It is ultimately this person who needs to give their permission for a Memorial to be laid.
Q. Can I put up any type of Memorial?
A. Most Cemeteries and all Churchyards have specific Rules & Regulations about what types of Memorial they allow. If you have not already been advised of these we will happily advise you and offer you guidance.
Q. I have seen a Memorial I like but it's not on your website or in your brochure, can you still help me?
A. Certainly, as long as we have details or a picture of the Memorial you have in mind.
Q. How long does the whole process take from start to finish?
A. Sometimes as little as two weeks, however, if you have chosen a memorial that we do not have in stock it can take up to 12-16 weeks.
Q. Can I see a picture of how my finished Memorial will look?
A. A proof drawing of your chosen Memorial and inscription will be sent to you for your approval.
Q. Can any artwork be achieved?
A. As long as it fits within the Cemetery/Churchyard Rules and Regulations then yes it can.
